> 1. During Andrew's draw step, Nick plays Vendilion Clique. > 2. Andrew puts the cards in his hand on the table. > 3. Nick writes down the contents of Andrew's hand. > 4. Nick says "Okay, I target myself." > 5. Andrew calls for a judge. There's what I wish had happened, and then there's what really did happen. I wish Nick had stopped Andrew as soon as he started to reveal his hand, and said something like "I'm not targeting you". I wish all players were that Sporting - but that's silly idealism, really. The fact is, nothing Nick did was illegal. I may not be very happy with his play - but Andrew is really at fault here, not Nick. Had Nick stared intently at Andrew's hand, then said "very nice... but I didn't name a target yet", only writing down his notes when Andrew had priority - I'd be a bit happier. (Again, I realize that's not how it usually works in practice - more idealism.) So, what I do? I explain to Andrew that he shouldn't act on his assumptions before he confirms them. No infraction, no penalty. |
